Supervision

Supervision classes are conducted throughout the year in Europe and the USA. Two-day supervision classes are limited to 8 people; and three-day classes are limited to 12 people. The supervision classes are primary intended for Karlton's intermediate and advanced students. However, newcomers are welcome subject to teacher approval.

The format for the supervision course is designed so that practitioners each bring am individual case studyfor which they are interested inobtaining super's case.Practitioners are also ivited to address specific issues, or themes in the supervision class. Karlton will analyze each case from the perspective of pre and perinatal psychology and offer interpretations, options for treatment, protocols, and homework for the parctitioner and patient, exploring solutions based upon his wide range of experience.

All the class members are present during each case analysis, therefore, each student is exposed to several interesting cases with many ideas for seeking solutions through the pre and perinatal approach and Karlton's creative and supportive expertise.

Often practitioners find that their own unresolved issues prevent them from seeing solutions themselves. Sometimes practitioners undertake their own personal work as they discover unresolved personal issues are impairing their own empathy and creativity for their patients. In these situations the supervision class becomes something like a process group with individual participants undertaking their own work while supported by Karlton and the other students.
